Use Redis To Rate Limit Your Low Code Api

FREEUse Redis To Rate LimitYour Low Code Api15 nodesFree foreverQuick Win

Who is this for?

Redis rate-limiting n8n workflow for platform engineers guarding a low-code API with per-minute and per-hour Redis limits that checks on incoming webhook. Log tails, limit tweaks and blocks pile up across Airtable, Redis and Slack when guarded live. You import the dg-0034 JSON slug-specific with exact credentials, tested first-try, and the Sheets plus Slack audit pack is already wired.

What problem does this solve?

You tail logs for spikes, check counts in Redis and Airtable, then block abusers and tweak limits by hand. On incoming webhook, this workflow runs Set then Redis checks for Per minute and Per hour, stores state in Airtable and rejects over-limit calls with Google Sheets - Audit Log tracking. You just approve limit tweaks.

What this workflow does

1. Airtable (Airtable)
2. Redis (Redis)
3. Redis1 (Redis)
4. Google Sheets - Audit Log (Google Sheets)
- Includes Daniel Grey pack: Slack - Error Alerts, Google Sheets - Audit Log, Wait - Rate Limit, Set - Audit Trail (all wired).

How it works

An incoming webhook kicks it off → Set, Redis, Per minute, ending in Per hour with Airtable state and Google Sheets - Audit Log tracking.

Setup

1. Open danielgrey.shop/app/templates/dg-0034 → Copy JSON → n8n → Import from Clipboard (or Push to n8n)
2. Connect credentials: Airtable, Google Sheets, HTTP Header Auth, Redis, Slack
3. Copy the production URL into your sending app, fire one test — Time required: ~10 min review — then Activate.

Requirements

- n8n 2.37 or later
- Credentials for Airtable, Google Sheets, HTTP Header Auth, Redis, Slack
- Free — import and run.

Customising

- Adjust limits in Per minute and Per hour Redis checks for your API quota.
- Update store fields in Airtable and key prefix in Redis and Redis1 for tenant isolation.
- The Daniel Grey pack (Slack - Error Alerts, Google Sheets - Audit Log, Wait - Rate Limit, Set - Audit Trail) is already wired — keep it or delete it.

v2.0 (Sep 2026, n8n 2.x): Legacy Function node rewritten as a Code node (modern $() syntax). Tested on n8n 2.37 (2.x).
